Complaint: overgrown grass and weeds

2011-01-31 00:00

FORT Napier Hospital asked the municipality to organise grass cutters to sort out the bush in front of the hospital as the administration was worried about people driving out and not being able to see oncoming traffic.

Msunduzi parks department responds: The complaint has been programmed and will be completed in due course.

Martyn Preccott writes: Over the past three to four years I have repeatedly been in touch with various members of the parks and recreation department assigned to this area regarding the alien weeds and wattle trees that have now overgrown and taken over bordering the residences of Peter Harwood Place in Lester Park. I spray and keep clean to about two metres outside my property in the hope that it keeps these invader plants at bay, but they are propagating in my garden at quite an alarming rate.

About five months ago Mr Tutsani met with me for a “site meeting” where he assured me that the project they were busy with was almost complete and he would bring his team around within the week to tackle the issues, I thought after all these years I had found someone who cared for the ratepayer. Alas I was wrong and after many phone calls to him I got the normal excuses.

I understand that funds are very tight, but could you please look into this matter.

Msunduzi parks department responds: The wattle trees behind the above-mentioned property are on our programme for removal and will be completed soon. We are working on a programme to eradicate alien vegetation, and this programme should be complete by January 28.
