Comrades charity: Car up for grabs in Amabeadibeadi competition

2008-05-19 00:00

Entrants of the charity competition for the Amabeadibeadi campaign, the charity drive of the Comrades Marathon, stand in line to win a Chevrolet Captiva 3,2 LTZ donated by General Motors as a lucky draw prize in this year’s SMS competition.

Bobby Maharajh, chairman of the Comrades Marathon Association’s (CMA) board of trustees, said that the donation has been part of the campaign for many years. "We in the CMA are extremely grateful to General Motors for this generous donation. A prize of this magnitude enables us to mount an SMS competition that will see hundreds of thousands of Comrades enthusiasts and sports lovers entering.

"Last year, Amabeadibeadi raised R1,8 million, and this year we hope to pass the R2 million mark," he said at the launch in Ekurhuleni yesterday.

To stand a chance of winning the car, entrants must SMS the word CAPTIVA to 38338 or complete a swing tag on any of the Amabeadibeadi merchandise for sale at shopping malls prior to the Comrades and at the Bonitas Comrades Expo from June 12 to 14.

The competition ends on June 15 and the winner will be announced during a live broadcast on SABC2. Each SMS costs R10.
