Concert: Young talent at playhouse

THIRTEEN of the most talented young musicians in KwaZulu-Natal will be sharing the stage of the Playhouse Drama Theatre with the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra in its annual Young Performers’ concert at 7.30 tonight.

The concert features Tshegofatso Mokobe (viola) and Stella Benbooi (violin), who are in the orchestra’s cadet programme that prepares young musicians to join the orchestra. The programme also features Keziah Peel (saxophone), winner of the UKZN Classical Performers’ Competition in 2011, and Sakhile Humbane (flute), a Grade 11 pupil at Durban High School, who received the highest mark in KZN for his Grade 7 exam. Other musicians are Kiara Moodley (violin), Catherine Lin (flute), Wesley Lewis (clarinet), Bheki Ngwazi, Ayesha Seedat (violin), Brett Alborough (clarinet) and and Wayne Mkhize.
