Concourt shortlist with the President

2012-06-14 00:00

PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma has received the names of four judges to fill the Constitutional Court position left vacant by the departure of former Chief Justice Sandile Ngcobo.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) said yesterday that four candidates had been submitted. Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng met Zuma on Monday and presented the names of judges Lebotsang Bosielo, Mandisa Maya, Robert Nugent, (all of the Supreme Court of Appeal), and Judge Raymond Zondo of the North and South Gauteng High Court.

Zuma must now consult the leaders of parties in the National Assembly before making an appointment, and must advise the JSC if any candidate is unacceptable to him.
