A MOUNTAIN Rise police officer was arrested and detained at

Pietermaritzburg police station yesterday morning for allegedly harassing and threatening his wife, from whom he has separated.

The 34-year-old man had allegedly visited the Ashburton home where his wife and her boyfriend live. There he is said to have banged on windows and intimidated the couple.

Police insiders say that the officer allegedly also sent SMSes in which he used profanity against his wife and her boyfriend. He also allegedly slashed the tyres of the boyfriend’s vehicle.

Colonel Jay Naicker said the man was arrested for malicious damage to property and intimidation.

Naicker said the man is expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court today.
