Cope: ex-ANC members not going back

2008-12-15 00:00

Former ANC members who moved to the Congress of the People (Cope) will not be seduced back into the arms of the ANC.

Speaking at a rally in the Eastern Cape on Sunday, ANC president Jacob Zuma said the doors of his party are open to members who want to come back. Cope leader Mosiuoa Lekota said Zuma more than anyone else shuld know there is no possibility of that happening.

Former ANC MP Charlotte Lobe, who is now interim secretary-general of Cope, said there is no possibility of going back to the ANC.

“Issues that made us leave are still there. Our choice was based on principles and now we have begun a new agenda of change and hope. This is not only for ex-ANC members, but for all South Africans.”
