Copesville: Angry residents want councillor sacked

2012-06-18 00:00

HANIVILLE and Copesville residents are intensifying their campaign to oust their councillor Thandi Ndlovu.

Community representatives are due to meet with the regional leadership of the ANC today to call for her ousting.

The growing discontent with Ndlovu follows her alleged failure to attend a community meeting yesterday. The angry community members alleged that she was the one who had scheduled the date for the meeting.

Attempts to contact Ndlovu yesterday were unsuccessful.

“It was she who set up this meeting for today and she did not show up,” said Sipho Malope, one of the community members. “We learned in the meeting that she was in another meeting in Durban where they were preparing for Mangaung.”

He said that after she failed to pitch up the community held a meeting and resolved that they want her to quit.

“We have decided that we want her out. Today community representatives will meet the secretary of the region and the speaker to deliver a letter detailing our grievances and calling for her dismissal.”

Last week the community barricaded the road and marched to the local Copesville satellite station demanding a meeting with Ndlovu.

They accused her of failing to attend community meetings and reporting to the community. “We last saw her before the elections in February. According to our agreement, she was supposed to hold a community meeting every month.”
