Cops connct the dots to clear cars

2012-08-30 00:00

VEHICLE owners wanting to apply for police clearance would need to have their vehicles micro-dotted, police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said yesterday.

Zwane said the Transport Department would issue the owner with a “request police clearance” (RPC) form, and then the vehicle would need to be micro-dotted by a registered private company, which would issue the owner with a certificate.

Only then could the vehicle be inspected and cleared by the police.

“Microdot is a procedure whereby a company affixes thousands of microdots to the vehicle by means of specialised equipment. These dots will not be visible to the naked eye and can only be examined by the SAPS specialised units”.

Zwane said the procedure would be carried out at the owner’s expense. Applicants should call Lieutenant Rusty Ikin or Warrant Officer Deon Voster at 033 846 2000/40 or the unit commander, Lieutenant-Colonel Nicky van der Westhuizen. at 082 454 9676 for more information.
