DRAPED in white, gold and blue, the Truro Hall played host to Pietermaritzburg SAPS medal winners yesterday.

The hard work and long years of service from Cluster 19 police officers were acknowledged and rewarded with trays of medals displayed at the front of the hall.

Over 50 officers received medals for outstanding service during the 2010 Soccer World Cup, while certificates of loyalty and deeds of commission were awarded to more than 20 officers.

Fifteen officers were awarded medals for service longer than 10 years.

Three officers, Colonel Mmeli Ngubane, Captain Delile Gayi and Warrant Officer Glen Bruce, left the stage to bursts of applause, proudly donning medals for service longer than 20 years.
