Cop’s son denied bail for allegedly using family vehicle to rob

A POLICEMAN’S son who allegedly used his father’s private motor vehicle to conduct three armed robberies was denied bail this week in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court.

Mduduzi Ndlovu (26) and his co-accused Zothani Sangwe (25) were arrested on September 17. They are alleged to have robbed three people at gunpoint of their cellphones in Scottsville.

According to the charge sheet, the accused allegedly approached the three victims at different times on September 17 in Scottsville in a white Ford Fiesta, pointed a firearm at them and took their cellphones.

One of the victims managed to note the registration number of the vehicle and passed it on to police. Police then circulated the information and the car was found to be registered to Ndlovu’s father, a colonel based at Pietermaritzburg Central police station.

Both accused were denied bail and are in custody till their next court appearance at the end of the month.
