Court: ultimatum for cop

2013-07-09 00:00

THE failure of a former senior education official and an investigating officer to appear in court yesterday delayed the fraud case against Indiza Infrastructure Solutions’ Jabulani Mabaso, prompting the Pietermaritzburg high court to issue a warrant of arrest — stayed until

tomorrow — for the policeman.

Acting High Court Judge Kobus Booyens said if the investigating officer, Alan Nixon, is not in court by

tomorrow, he will be arrested.

Investigating officer Colleen Naidoo was also called to the witness dock to explain why the witnesses were not in court. Former Department of Education

superintendent-general Themba Ndlovu is expected to give evidence today.

Judge Booyens apologised to Mabaso and his team for the delay. The case continues today.
