CRESTON College, in conjunction with Shelly Beach and Port Shepstone Lions Club, have organised a two-day career expo at Creston’s main hall to provide pupils with up-to-date information to base their career choices on.

The expo, which started yesterday, has some 30 exhibitors from various sectors, all offering learners an opportunity to collect advice and receive counsel on a variety of career paths.

Grade 7 pupils will be provided with information to select suitable high schools and advised what combination of subjects to study.

Grades 11 and 12 pupils will be told about various tertiary institutions — from universities to Further Education and Training (FET) colleges — as well as fields of study and career planning.

Guest speakers from various institutions will make presentations on their careers, their challenges and benefits.

The organisers say the emphasis is on entrepreneurial development and they aim to make the career expo an annual event.
