Cricket: Inland take a beating from Gauteng

2013-01-21 00:00

KZN Inland suffered at the Maritzburg Oval this weekend as a strong Gauteng side claimed big CSA three-day and T20 competition match victories.

Meanwhile, Kingsmead in Durban witnessed a thrilling CSA T20 encounter between KZN Coastal and Griquas that ended in a tie when Wes Landsdale hit two runs off the last ball of the match. The three-day match was drawn after poor weather interfered.

Inland lost the three-day match by nine wickets to Gauteng on Saturday and it was Jean Symes’s unbeaten 170 that set up the victory.

Sunday’s T20 bash saw Symes again top-score with 48 (Devon Conway was a key partner) as Gauteng compiled 132 in their 20 overs.
