Cricket: KZN Inland slayed by the dragons in Potchefstroom

2009-11-02 00:00

THE North West Dragons ran amok in Potchefstroom yesterday as they thrashed KZN Inland by six wickets with 10 overs to spare and earned a bonus point in the process.

The Provincial One-Day Challenge match saw Inland run up 201 for five in their allotted 40 overs after winning the toss and opting to bat. The Dragons hauled in the target in 30 overs with six wickets in hand, the victory with 10 overs to spare ensuring they got the bonus point and a full five points for the match.

It is the most comprehensive victory any fan of the home side at Senwes Park could have wished for, while for Inland supporters it’s a crushing blow and further proof that the Pietermaritzburg-based first-class team’s bowling attack is as threatening as a powder-puff at this level. Inland also bowled 23 wides — unforgivable at any level.
