2009-01-13 00:00

THERE were comprehensive victories yesterday for hosts Maritzburg College and Westville on day one of the Maritzburg College Cricket Week in Pietermaritzburg.

On their Goldstones home ground, College dismissed Trinity House for 95, with Calvin Savage picking up three wickets for eight runs. College opener Craig Letcher wrapped up the 10-wicket win with an unbeaten 62.

At Varsity’s number two oval, Westville’s Nabeel Bhayla led the run charge in pursuit of Pretoria Boys’ High School’s 129 all out. Bhayla was 70 not out accompanied by Bruce Kruger’s undefeated 51, as they chased down the target just before rain rendered play impossible.
