Cricket at Khaya Majola Week comes to a standstill with incessant rainfall

2013-12-19 00:00

CRICKET in Durban at this time of the year is virtually impossible, as teams playing in the Khaya Majola Week have no doubt realised.

Rain has been a daily visitor for the best part of three weeks and yesterday was no exception. It was a day when all the U19 sides were involved in a double-header of T20 matches, but steady and heavy rain over Durban from mid-morning through to early afternoon put a stop to any thought of cricket.

Some matches did get underway, but these were soon called off.

The afternoon matches saw only one completed, with all the others abandoned without a ball being bowled as fields at Kearsney College, Lahee Park, Tills Crescent and other venues buckled under another dose from nature’s irrigation system.
