Cricket festivals off to a good start

2013-01-10 00:00

IT was another hot day at Alex and a little cooler up the hill at Hilton, but this did not stop some good individual performances by players at both festivals.

Michaelhouse and Maritzburg College won against Uplands and Peterhouse respectively.

Hilton just short of a win against Bishops and having to settle for a draw in an exciting finish. Kearsney lost their first game against St Davids.

A century was scored at each festival 103, by Justin Row-Roberts from Bishops against Hilton and Josh Foster, following his half century on the first day reached three figures for Howick against Leeuwenhof from Gauteng.

There were three fifers on the first day at Hilton and a 6-wicket haul by Luke Richardson from Treverton against Weston.

Two College boys, Lwandiswa Zuma and Gareth Jeary, destroyed the batting of Peterhouse; each taking 5 wickets for just four runs. Matthew Savadier from St Davids captured his 5 wickets against Kearsney.
