Crime: Elderly couple robbed

2007-12-18 00:00

An elderly couple were robbed at their Thornville home during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police said they were unharmed, but the couple, aged 80 and 83, were badly shaken by the incident, said their pastor, Chris Pilley.

"The armed robbers threatened the couple and ransacked their home, after gaining entry through a window. They took electrical appliances and asked for firearms and money, which the couple did not have."

Pilley said police who were off duty yesterday nevertheless went to the couple’s home to offer assistance.

He said that people should be aware of incidents like this.

Pilley is organising that the couple’s possessions are replaced through his church.
