Crime: Shooters target N2 car en route to Moz

2008-05-26 00:00

A motorist was shot in the hand during a drive-by shooting on the N2 highway near the Umfolozi bridge on Saturday. Police said that the man was travelling with a woman and two children when they were attacked by unknown people.

It is alleged that the man was driving to Mozambique from Stanger when it happened.

Captain Jabulani Mdletshe said the vehicle was crossing the Umfolozi Bridge when a Citi Golf overtook them. He said gunshots were fired from the Citi Golf.

“The driver was shot and injured on his right arm. When he turned his vehicle around, the Citi Golf followed him … he saw a police vehicle and waved them to stop. The Golf … escaped. The police escorted the shot driver to a … clinic to be treated.”
