Edwin Burke’s famous aphorism that “evil flourishes when good men do nothing” would certainly seem to apply to an incident reported in Friday’s edition of The Witness. According to the report, the co-owner of a company from which thieves had just snatched two laptops was unable to elicit any support from passers-by while in hot pursuit of the robbers. In a heartening contrast, an employee of a local security firm was prepared to put his life in danger to prevent criminals from getting away from the scene of a recent crime.
