TWO newly-wed couples will enjoy a sensational four-night cruise on one of the country’sa premier ocean liner, compliments of the The Witness’s Bridal Competition.

Couples from all around the province have been sending pictures of their special day since January last year. Every month, winners were selected and these winners were put into the running for the final prize.

After it was left up to the public to decide, two winners with an equal number of votes were chosen to claim the spectacular prize — Grant and Simone Boonzaier, as well as Theogran and Prashika Murugan.

Grant and Simone met in Durban where they worked for the same company.

After spotting Simone, He said he only managed to muster up the courage to message her after three months after he first saw her. he mustered up the courage to message her.

They chatted online for almost six months without speaking a word to each other, before they bumped into each other in the corridor and “the rest is history”.

They were married in June last year and have known each other for seven years. “We were recovering from a little argument in the car when Simone got the message that we won,” Grant said. “It was an amazing feeling.”

Theogran and Prashika met on a night out with a mutual friend three years ago.

They wed in April last year.

They are expecting their first baby in June and have left the gender of their child as a surprise.

“I was so excited when I found out we won. I was on top of the world. I would always go through the bridal section in The Witness when I was young and would tell myself that one day I would be there,” Prashika said.

Both Theogran and Grant said they haven’t ended up sleeping on the couch just as yet, and both their wives agreed that marriage isn’t that different from when they were courting.
