DA KZN: ‘Nkonyeni should step aside'

2009-06-03 00:00

THE Democratic Alliance (DA) in KZN has called on Peggy Nkonyeni, Speaker in the legislature, to step aside until her court case is over.

DA caucus leader John Steenhuisen said his party has noted with grave concern Nkonyeni’s second appearance in court on Monday on corruption charges.

“As the political head of the KZN Legislature, the appearance of Nkonyeni in the dock has sullied the entire legislature and runs the real risk of bringing the legislature into disrepute …” Steenhuisen said. — WR.
