DBN: visitors to knife show could win big

THE R35 entrance fee to this year’s Durban Easter Knife Show also gives you a chance to win a knife worth R3 500.

The knife was made by Pietermaritzburg-based Lourens Prinsloo, one of South Africa’s foremost knifemakers and a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa. His knives have gained a world-wide reputation and he travels annually to New York to display and sell his work.

“I’ve been making knives for 13 years,” says Prinsloo, who is deputy principal at Sukuma High School in Imbali.

The Durban Easter Knife Show is on today at the Protea Hotel, Umhlanga Ridge, opposite the Gateway Wavehouse from 9 am till 4 pm.
