DJ SHOW of Mgungu Rockaz fame honoured June 16 by shooting a music video of some of the songs from his first solo album at Alexandra Park.
After five years of hard work and dedication, Shokwakhe Chonco, also known as DJ Show by his fans, has finally recorded his first solo album to be released at the end of June. He decided to shoot his music video at Alexandra Park because he believes Pietermaritzburg artists need to show that there is tremendous talent here.
“We don’t need to go to Durban for us to be successful — we just need to showcase our talent right here so that the City of Choice can get exposure as the capital city of KwaZulu-Natal,” said DJ Show.
The album is called The Show Gozzon, and has 14 tracks that will have DJ Show fans dancing until morning. Tracks include Siyashosholoza and Pull Your Jeans which are currently receiving radio airplay.
After releasing Mgungu Rockaz Evolution in 2007, DJ Show saw the demand for his music and decided to make a full album.
“Over the past five years I have been perfecting my art for my fans because they believe in my music,” he said.
Born in Hammarsdale, but now living in Imbali, DJ Show said he is looking forward to working with other artists.
“At the present moment I’m working with Bonke Trading CC on releasing G-Staz, an album which will be the first kwaito album to be released in the City of Choice,” he added.
