DOE ordered to pay

2014-02-21 00:00

THE Pietermaritzburg high court yesterday ordered KwaZulu-Natal’s Education Department to pay Save Wholesalers Cash and Carry R652 978 for goods it supplied to about 30 co-operatives involved in the national schools’ nutritional programme dating back to 2012.

The department consented to the order.

According to papers before the high court the DOE had given authority to Save to supply the goods to the co-operatives and claim payment directly from the department. However despite assurances that the claims were being processed, the wholesaler was not paid.
