Dambuza: dad accused of raping daughter (6)

2013-03-19 00:00

YET another Pietermaritzburg father has been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of his own daughter.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Joey Jeevan said the father was arrested in Dambuza. Police alleged that the man went to the house of the child’s mother to collect his six-year-old daughter for her regular visit to his home.

“It is alleged that when he returned with her later in the day, the mother noticed that the child was struggling to walk. Upon questioning the father, he fled without responding,” said Jeevan.

She said the girl told her mother that her father had punched her and raped her on a bed. The mother took the girl to Edendale Hospital for a medical examination before calling the police.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court today.
