Dance floor death: Witnesses didn’t see end

2012-05-31 00:00

TWO witnesses told the regional court yesterday about an altercation on the dance floor at Cafe Vacca Matta nightclub last year, after which Juran Raman (20) died on March 26 last year.

Nikita Naidoo said she did not see what happened to Raman because her view was blocked. She said the altercation started when Raman approached as she danced with Melanie Cara, the sister of accused Sherwin Cara, Preshane Tayob and another friend, Natalie. She said Raman tried to speak to Natalie and Tayob grabbed him by the collar. Christopher Sibran also testified he saw the altercation start, but not how it ended. Cara alleges Raman was fatally injured when he fell on a broken glass. — WR.
