Dancers show moves at film awards

2014-07-21 00:00

Somizi Dancers perform during the Simon ‘Mabhunu’ Sabela Film Awards initiative of the Department of Economic Development, organised by the KwaZulu-Natal Film Commission. It was held at the International Convention Centre in Durban on Saturday night. The awards are held to ensure the promotion of KwaZulu-Natal province as a choice for film and to recognise all those who have over the years made a contribution to the country’s film industry. Sabela, in whose honour the Film Awards are named, was a legend in film and television. Not only was he the country’s first black director, he had a long and successful career that saw him feature in 34 movies.
