Dannhauser: First town in sa to have 100% electrification of houses

2013-03-04 00:00

DANNHAUSER in KZN will soon be the first municipality in South Africa where every home will have electricity.

On Saturday MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Nomusa Dube announced the electrification of the remaining 1 000 houses in the town at a function in the Verdriet Sports Ground in Ward 3 in Dannhauser.

Dube said the town’s 100% electrification was a service delivery success story and fitted in with her department’s Small Towns Rehabilitation Programme. She added that the programme was highlighted as a key focus for government in Premier Zweli Mkhize’s State of the Province Address last week.

“This is a rare milestone and an achievement in government’s tireless efforts in improving service delivery to ordinary citizens, and particularly communities in rural areas where poverty is the order of the day and jobs are hard to come by,” Dube said.
