Dead or not?

Four new movies hit the big screen today - Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer at SterKinekor and CineCentre, Premonition at CineCentre, Cheeni Kum at Nu Metro and Life in a ... Metro at CineCentre.

• Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer sees the return of the quartet of superheroes, Mr Fantastic, Invisible Woman, the Human Torch and the Thing, and finds them facing their greatest challenge yet in the form of the intergalactic Silver Surfer who is out to destroy Earth. And just when they think they have got that sorted it's only to discover the Silver Surfer is just the herald for an even bigger menace: the planet-devouring Galactus.

• Premonition finds Sandra Bullock turning into a nervous wreck as her perfect life turns upside down. She plays Linda Hanson who has a beautiful house, a loving husband and two great daughters. But then her husband gets killed in a car accident. Or does he? The next day when she wakes up there he is beside her as usual. In what sounds like a horror variant on Groundhog Day this situation keeps repeating itself until Linda realises she is living her life in jigsaw fashion, in fragments of time from the past and the future. When worse threatens will she be able to put all the pieces back together?

• Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan stars in Cheeni Kum. Billed as a “sugar-free romance”, it's also something of a comedy. Bachchan stars along with Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Zohra Sehgal and Swini Khera.

• Life in a ... Metro is the first outing for Shilpa Shetty post the Big Brother fiasco (not to mention being kissed by Richard Gere). A tale of love, adultery and general infidelity set in the heaving metropolis of Mumbai, the film sets out to reveal the reality behind high-society lives that look, on the surface, happy and successful. The film also stars Dharmendra, Shiney Ahuja and Kay Kay Menon.
