• 7.30 am-12.30 pm. The Karkloof Farmers’ Market is located 2,6 km from Howick on the Karkloof Road. Access is gained off the D507. Goods on sale include fresh produce as well as breads, biscotti, cheese, plants, flowers and more. Inquiries: Andrea at 082 820 8986.

• 8 am-11.30 am. Breakfast is served at the Lion’s river Farmers’ Market. Proceeds go to the Midlands Crisis and Trauma Centre in Howick. For more information, phone Rex at 082 771 6653.

• 8.30 am. The Umgeni Steam Railway Preservation group will be running its regular Inchanga choo-choo steam train. Trains depart from Kloof at 8.30 am and 12.30 pm and travel to Inchanga, where the Inchanga community craft market will be taking place at the station. Tickets are available at R100 per person, with senior citizens and children (aged two to 16) at R60. • 2 pm. The Ramblers’ Club of Pietermaritzburg invites people interested in hiking to join them in walking the hills of Pietermaritzburg and its environs. Interested people should be reasonably fit and may contact Francois at 033 344 2754 for further information.
