Diesel: Police want to talk to theft victims

2009-06-02 00:00

POLICE are appealing for information relating to the theft of diesel at Harburg.

Police said yesterday that after receiving a tip-off, Harburg police station officers visited a house at Ozwatini area in Harburg, where they arrested a 46-year-old male suspect in possession of around 425 litres of diesel, valued at approximately R3 000.

The suspect could not provide proof of purchase to the police, who suspect the fuel was stolen or that there is a syndicate operating in the area.

The arrested suspect, Boy Zacharia Sithole, appeared in court in the New Hanover Magistrate’s Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody.

Anyone who has recently experienced a loss of diesel is asked to contact Captain Sikhosithi Luthuli at SAPS Harburg at 033 506 1014 or on 082 418 1807.— WR.
