Doctor charged with raping man

2012-09-15 00:00

A DOCTOR (25) appeared in court in Estcourt yesterday after he was alleged to have raped a man who was visiting him. Police allege that the 21-year-old was invited to the doctor’s home for drinks.

The man fell asleep after enjoying drinks and was “offered a bed to sleep since he was drunk and sleepy”, said KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel

Vincent Mdunge.

He said the man woke up that night to find the doctor raping him.

“He ran away to the police station to report the incident,” added Mdunge.

He said the doctor was arrested and charged with rape.

The doctor was granted R2 000 bail and will appear again in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday.

“The suspect cannot be named at this stage because he has not pleaded,” added Mdunge. — WR.
