Dog attacks man in Burger street

2010-06-09 00:00

A PIETERMARITZBURG man was bitten several times by a pet dog in his neighbourhood yesterday morning.

Aaron Dakai (26) was walking along Burger Street when the dog escaped as the owner was leaving her property.

“This dog often barks and is vicious when I walk past,” said Dakai.

“I was going to the bus stop when it ran at me and started fighting with me,” he said.

Dakai said the owner of the dog offered him R20 to not go to the hospital. He refused the money and instead waited for an ambulance.

ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks said Dakai suffered multiple dog bites to his legs and was taken to Northdale Hospital.

Later, the doctor who treated him said: “He had a tiny puncture on his calf. I have given him his injections and he will go home.”

Dakai said: “I am not feeling well and now I am not walking nicely”.

It is not clear whether the dog that bit Dakai has been vaccinated.
