Dogs maul woman

2013-10-08 00:00

THE woman viciously attacked by dogs in Nguswa in Botha’s Hill near Hillcrest was still being kept under heavy sedation yesterday.

The 44-year-old is believed to have been walking home after a meeting with friends when the attack happened.

R.K. Khan Hospital spokesperson Eleka Naidoo said the woman was brought to hospital at about 6.30 am. She sustained multiple injuries and numerous lacerations all over her body. The patient had been booked for surgery, she said.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the woman in great pain and assistance was requested from the Durban ER24 advanced life support paramedics, who met up with the state ambulance and provided the patient with more advanced care.

ER24 spokesperson Vanessa Jackson said when they arrived at the scene, the woman was lying on the ground with large gaping bites to her arms and legs. “Despite her being alert, she was in a critical condition and in a severe amount of pain,” she said.

The police have launched an investigation.
