Dolphins: gunning for home semis

2011-02-19 00:00

THE KZN Dolphins will play their final Standard Bank Pro20 Series round-robin match at Kingsmead tomorrow, knowing they need a win.

After last night’s matches saw the Titans and the Cobras leapfrog Graham Ford’s charges at the top of the log, the Dolphins will have to overcome the visiting Lions in order to ensure the advantage of playing two of the semi-final legs at home.

Currently sitting on 12 points, the Dolphins are one point behind the Titans, while the Cobras have a superior run rate.

The Lions were knocked out of the running of a potential Champions League spot when results didn’t go their way last night, meaning that the contest will be a dead rubber for them.

It is an altogether differet proposition for the Dolphins, however, as they look to get back to winning ways after losing to the Titans in their last match.

The Dolphins’ top-order will need to fire tomorrow, with David Miller looking to end his run of back-to-back zeros, while the likes of Loots Bosman, Devon Conway and Vaughn van Jaarsveld will want to build innings of substance instead of cameos.

Dolphins squad: I Khan (c), L Bosman, D Conway, D Miller, A Amla, V van Jaarsveld, J Kent, D Smit, K Maharaj, K Abbott, Y Arafat, C Fortune, M Shezi. – Sports Reporter.

• Play starts at 2 pm tomorrow, with coverage on Supersport 5.
