Donations: School gets books from ‘Witness’ readers

2008-10-16 00:00

A plea for books in The Witness recently resulted in an overwhelming response for a little farm school in Thornville.

For the first time, state-aided Thornville school, which has been in operation since the 1960s, boasts a fully fledged library after receiving over 200 books from the Pietermaritzburg community.

Headmistress Nondumiso Ndlovu (centre) said the main sponsors were The Wykeham Collegiate and Hospice. Twelve-year-old Mavela Cebekhulu (left) and Mcondi Xaba (14) were only too happy to assist Ndlovu in sorting out the books for their new library.
