A MAN found guilty of murdering and robbing nurse Ntombi Sangweni (59) and her assistant, Thokozani Ncwane (52), was sentenced to 64 years’ jail at the Pietermaritzburg High Court yesterday.

Police spokesperson Captain Thulani Zwane said Sifundo Mtshali (23) was sentenced to 20 years for each murder and 12 years for each robbery. “The second suspect, Sizwe Zulu (21), pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded until December 10 for trial at the Dukuza High Court in Bergville,” said Zwane.

Sangweni and Ncwane’s bodies were found under a bed at Driekwaart Farm, Vryheid, in March.

During the attack, a car, bank cards and cellphones were stolen.

Mtshali and Zulu were charged with two counts of murder, and two of robbery.
