Doubles tourney sees superb tennis

THE annual Hilton College/St Anne’s Invitational Doubles Tennis tournament was held over the first four days of the Michaelmas holidays.

The outcome of the event was unpredictable subject to performances in ideal conditions.

There was some superb tennis over the four days from middle-range tennis schools, as there were some very talented players present.

The format of the tournament is doubles with a round of boys followed by a round of girls and then a round of mixed doubles. The mixed doubles are from boys’ schools with their matched sister schools or from being drawn with a girl’s school.


Boys’ doubles: 1 DHS, 2 Hilton, 3 Michaelhouse, 4 St Stithians, 5 St Andrews College, 6 Somerset College, 7 St Albans, 8 Uplands.

Girls’ doubles: 1 St Annes, 2 Roedean, 3 St Mary’s Waverley, 4 St Mary’s Kloof, 5 Uplands, 6 Somerset, 7 DSG Grahamstown, 8 Kingsmead.

Mixed doubles: 1 Hilton/St Annes, 2 DHS/St Mary’s Kloof, 3 Michaelhouse/Roedean, 4 St Albans/St Mary’s Waverley, 5 Somerset Boys/Somerset Girls, 6 St Andrews/DSG Grahamstown, 7 Uplands Boys/Uplands Girls, 8 St Stithians/Kingsmead.
