Drowning: Coach’s family travel to PMB

THE family of the rugby coach who drowned in the Maritzburg College swimming pool on Sunday after a rugby tournament arrived in Pietermaritzburg to identify his body yesterday.

Ronald Mokoena (25) worked as an intern coach at St Benedict’s College in Johannesburg, which was participating in the tournament.

St Benedict’s principal, Andre Oosthuizen, said the family is devastated by his death. “I have been with the family since yesterday; I personally went to his house to inform them and it obviously shocking news for them.” Mokoena’s body will be taken back to Johannesburg.

He was described as a dedicated coach and passionate sportsman.
