Drug Bust: Two arrested

2009-05-19 00:00

A POLICE raid after a tip-off at a house in Northdale on Thursday night last week netted dagga, mandrax and cocaine.

Twelve members of the SAPS Mountain Rise Police and SAPS dog unit took part in the swoop.

Police spokesman Senior Superintendent Henry Budhram said that after repeatedly knocking on the door of the house, police forced open the door.

“The premises was searched and police found mandrax and a parcel of dagga,” he said.

Two adult males, at the ages of 25 and 40, were arrested. Both were also found to be in possession of cocaine. They have been charged with possession of an illegal substance. In all, the drugs are believed to amount to a street value of about R500 in total. “Both are expected to make a court appearance in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court shortly,” said Budhram.
