TWENTY-FOUR schoolchildren aged between six and 10 were injured, 11 seriously, when the minibus taxi they were travelling in was struck by a heavy goods truck in Durban yesterday afternoon.

The collision occured at the junction of the M13 Jan Smuts Highway beneath the N3 Sherwood Bridge

Netcare911 spokesperson Jeffrey Wicks said paramedics arrived at the scene to find the wrecked taxi wedged against a traffic signal pole with the truck nearby. “All indications are that the taxi was struck on the left side and pushed off the road,” he said. — WR.
