Durban singer at Show

UP-and-coming Durban singer Lee Vaughn will be performing at this year’s Radio Sonder Grense (RSG) Concert at the Royal Show in Pietermaritzburg, on May 31.

The 23-year-old, who released his debut album, Doedoe-oë in March this year, comes from a musical family — his great-aunt is seventies country singer, Sally Vaughn, and his great-uncle is Buddy Vaughn. He has been singing since he was a child and, as a teenager, performed with the Durban Men’s Choir.

His album features a mixture of upbeat Afrikaans tracks, and popular English country covers, including a Smokie and Bellamy Brothers medley, all of which showcase the rich texture of Vaughn’s voice.

• The RSG concert starts at 1.30 pm in the Main Arena with Chris Chameleon, followed by Vaughn, then Nadine and finally The Campbells. Entrance to the Royal Show for the day is R35 for adults, R18 for children from six to 12 years old and pensioners. This includes entry to the Royal Show itself, and the concert.
