Dusi: river ‘okay’ as race draws near

2008-12-08 00:00

Water quality in the Msunduzi River is okay for now, according to the Natal Canoe Club, organiser of the Hansa Powerade Dusi Marathon.

According to Ray de Vries, spokesman for the organisers, the water quality has improved in comparison to last year, with fewer paddlers reporting “the dreaded Dusi guts” while training.

“We also have a pharmaceutical company that has a vaccine against bacteria and cholera as an added precaution. Full details of this will be available on www.dusi.co.za shortly,” said De Vries.

He said the Msunduzi Municipality has a special task force that will be on full alert during the season as many paddlers come down to KZN to practice for the race.

Online entries are available at www.dusi.co.za.
