Dying boy’s uncles say it’s all lies

TWO brothers of murder victim Anthea Govindsamy are dismayed that her killer wants to get out of prison to visit his terminally ill son in hospital.

They were reacting to a report in Weekend Witness that relatives of 13-year-old Dante Govindsamy plan to seek an urgent court order to allow the boy’s killer dad, Jaiseelan Govindsamy, to see his son.

Govindsamy was convicted of stabbing his estranged wife (Dante’s mother) to death at Howick falls in March 2007.

Dante — who suffers from the rare Leigh’s Syndrome and has a limited life expectancy — is currently critically ill on a ventilator at Grey’s Hospital.

Anthea Govindsamy’s brother, Chris Peters, told The Witness that neither he nor his brother Elvin want her killer to be allowed out of jail for any length of time.

He said it’s a “a blatant lie” that Dante was asking for his dad, saying the child could not talk because of tubes in his mouth.

“This man savagely stabbed my sister to death, killing her in front of their two children, as well as my son. He traumatised them,” said Peters.

He said the family was afraid that Govindsamy would try to escape if he was let out of prison.

“He threatened to go on and do more things … He said that he is not finished with what he’s done … my family is scared. He has shown what he is capable of and he must not come out,” he said.
