Early entries for race closed

EARLY-BIRD entries for The Witness Maritzburg City Marathon have closed, but those who want to enter can still do so at various points around the city.

Once the entry form has been printed from the website pmb42.co.za, entrants can pop them in, along with their entry fees, at collection boxes at Total Sports at Liberty Mall and at the Pavillion, at Poobie Naidoo Sports in Pietermaritzburg, Durban Runner in Glenwood, Sports Zone at the Kensington Mall in Durban North and at the Natal Carbineers Drill Hall Guard Room in Geere Street.

Entry fees for the day are R175 for the marathon, R120 for the half marathon, R100 for the 10 km and seven kilometre races, and R120 for the 14 km trail run along the banks of the Msunduzi River.

Race director John Hall said Vuma FM, one of the race’s partners, would host a free concert on the days before the race. “We won’t have the biggest names because we won’t be able to hold the crowds, but we are expecting a large number of people to attend,” he said.

He said it was all systems go for the weekend beginning on February 22, starting with the Maritzburg MaraFun for the little ones on Saturday February 22. This includes the 2,1 km or 4,2 km races for children over seven, the 420 m Juvenile Jog for those under seven, the 210 m Lightning Bolt for those under four, the 42 m Toddler Trot and the 21 m Nappy Crawl.
