Eclectic mix of acts at musicians’ club

2010-02-05 00:00

THE Maritzburg Musicians’ Club has an eclectic mix of acts this coming Tuesday.

Zephyr returns as the featured act, with its soulful, feel-good, uplifting rock music and universal lyrics. The band’s name was inspired by a song by Northern Irish band Relish, called Rainbow Zephyr. A zephyr is a gentle wind, a west wind and generally one that sailors welcome.

Zephyr is a four-piece outfit from the midlands, made up by Lawrence Smith, Chris Wyatt and the brothers Liam and Jeremy Mathias, that has been entertaining crowds around KZN for the last few years.

First up on the bill is Four Leaf, an innovative percussion/drumming experience. Take along your djembes and shakers to join Chris Melling and the band. Also in the line-up is Tuff Gong, an enthusiastic, original funk/reggae/rock outfit.

The MMC has announced that the club has arranged a special deal for MMC supporters — a limited number of Splashy Fen tickets at R350 (R200 less than you would pay at the gate). The tickets are available on Tuesday at the club.
