Energy: price of gas incorrectly quoted by dept

2011-08-08 00:00

THE Department of Energy incorrectly quoted the price of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) to The Witness last week and has apologised for its error.

On Thursday The Witness ran a story about possible overcharging for gas, giving the previous and recently increased prices of LPG as R18,40/kg and R18,78/kg respectively. The informant was Hein Baak who works in at the department.

But a concerned local retailer of LPG said the pricing was incorrect and the department was confused.

The new price, which came into effect on August 3, should actually be R19,17/kg, and 18,78/kg was the price before last week’s increase.

Baak said he was wrong and apologised for the mistake.

The correct prices are: July 2011: R18,78/kg, August 2011: R19,17/kg.
