Enter water-skiing mini-league

2013-09-21 00:00

FOR a little while, the sport of water-skiing took a knock in KwaZulu-Natal, as the numbers of active skiers dwindled.

This is all changing now, as the newly formed Inanda Water Ski Club is now up and running.

The founders of the club have been skiing in Durban Bay, north of the Inanda dam wall, since 2001. It is far from the Msinsi launch area, but these are the lengths that skiers will go to in the search for the idyllic, smooth and protected water required for competition waterskiing.

Over the past few years, the eThekwini Green Corridor has been involved with some development in Durban Bay, as part of a community initiative for the area.

The club will be hosting a mini-league on October 6 for those interested in the sport to come and see how it all works. The mini-leagues are open to all and designed specifically to encourage newcomers to the sport.

For more information about the club, the mini-league and ski coaching, contact Wayne Cammidge or Ally du Plooy at 082 414 4398 and 083 708 6895.
