Epworth I end the season on top

LAST week saw the final round of the Pietermaritzburg Medi-Clinic women’s first league squash with champions Epworth I completing a very successful season, beating third-placed Golf Club 9-3. Runners-up Epworth II had a hard-fought 9-6 win over Country Club and Eston beat Lynwood 9-5.

The second round of the men’s first league resumed last week and there was one upset which saw fourth-placed Lynwood beat third-placed Collegians 11-8.

In the top-of-the-table clash, defending champions Michaelhouse were too powerful for Howick, winning 12-2. Michaelhouse have opened up a 15-point lead over Howick and are looking firm favourites to take the title again this year.

Golf Club I won their derby match 9-7 against Golf Club II and Country Club I made up for their first-round loss to Country Club II, this time winning comfortably 11-4.
